6-month internship at Sanofi: ‘Deciphering Protein Function with Artificial Intelligence’

Job Overview The goal of this project is to develop new molecular modeling approaches, using artificial intelligence, in order to gain access to the non-crystallographic conformational states of target proteins. This will allow focusing on specific conformations of the protein in order to alter or restore its function. The major advantage of this approach is that the protein conformations will be rationally selected rather than found through a screening approach of small molecules.
Responsibilities and Duties
Design, train and deliver machine learning solutions to datasets coming from molecular simulations, i.e. time series of 3D protein structures.
Implement, test and validate new algorithms.
Formulate learning algorithms in complex biophysics systems with diverse data sets.
Stay up-to-date with the latest machine learning techniques by reviewing literature.
Work in a highly collaborative environment to brainstorm, design, implement and deliver ML solutions to some of the most challenging pharmaceutical industry problems.
BSc with relevant background (applied mathematics/physics, bioinformatics or related).
Ability to work within a Linux/Unix based operating system at the command line.
Practical experience of programming in Python.
Excellent written and oral English skills.
Knowledge of common statistical measures, basic statistical tests, models, and common visualizations.
Interest in learning theoretical and practical aspects of utilizing data for biological applications.
